Sergeant First Class Thomas Clyde Farley Memorial Bridge.

The bridge in Chapmanville between Route 10 and Crawley Creek Road was renamed Friday and dedicated to a local war hero.

 

The bridge is now known as the Sergeant First Class Thomas Clyde Farley Memorial Bridge.

 

Farley entered military service in 1986.  He served in Bosnia and Iraq.

 

His mother, Linda Farley, says the dedication is significant to her.

 

“This means more to me than anybody can imagine,” Farley said.  “Everyone who knew Thomas loved him.

 

Chapmanville Mayor Jerry Price echoed her sentiments.

 

“It’s a great day for the family to see all this support for him.  He was a great guy, a community minded guy.”  Price said.

 

During his 19 year military career Farley earned numerous decorations including the  for his years of Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Global War On Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War On Terrorism Service Medal, Humanitarian Service Medal, and dozens of others.
