72 Additional Deaths Due To COVID, According to DHHR


The West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources reported 74 additional deaths due to COVID-19 today.


Since the onset of the outbreak, a total of 4,219 West Virginians have succumbed to the virus.


Statewide, 721Mountain State residents are hospitalized for COVID-19. There are 207 patients in intensive care units and 125 of those patients are on ventilators.


As of Wednesday morning, 1,012 new infections were confirmed through laboratory testing.


W.Va. as 8,469 active cases of COVID-19.


The latest county alert map published by the state DHHR has fourteen counties in the red zone including Boone, Lincoln, Mingo and Wyoming counties


Twenty-three counties are orange.


Ten counties are gold including Logan.


Four counties, including McDowell, are yellow.


Four counties are green.


Red indicates the most severe spread of coronavirus in the state, followed by orange, gold, yellow and green.
