A Lyburn man was arrested and charged with strangulation Sunday night.
Logan County Deputies responded to a domestic disturbance. Upon arrival deputies detained the defendant, Timothy Jay Smith, due to a domestic assault warrant from September last year.
The victim and a young child both gave statements to police. Their statements allege Smith was aggressive and belligerent and screaming. Moreover, the statements alleged the defendant entered the victim’s car, struck at the victim and choked the victim with his hands around the victim’s neck.
The victim further alleged Smith threatened to shoot if the victim called 911.
Smith was arrested based on the statements and charged with strangulation and domestic battery.
