According to W.Va. DHHR, More Counties Turn Orange as Numbers Begin to Slide


The West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources reported 988 new cases of COVID-19.


As of 10 o’clock Monday morning, W.Va. currently has 26,777 active cases of coronavirus.


Since the onset of the outbreak, 1,784 West Virginians have succumbed to COVID-19. Eight people died in the last 24 hours.


Today’s daily positive infection rate is 6.19%.


According to the color-coded map released this morning by the state DHHR, 17 counties are in the restrictive red zone. Red counties include Boone and Mingo counties.


Twenty-nine counties are orange including Logan, Lincoln, Wayne and Wyoming.


Six counties are gold.


Three counties are yellow.


W.Va. has administered 130,600 doses of the first round of vaccine. As of press time, 23,092 residents have received both rounds of shots.
