Boone Co. Passes Ordinance To Bill Insurance For Fires

Boone is the latest county in West Virginia to pass an ordinance that allows fire departments to bill insurance companies for every fire and accident, in compliance with state code.

Boone County is trying to recoup its declining fire levy, which has gone from $190,000 each year 10 years ago, to $80,000 annually now. The levy has gone down due to the decline of coal in the region and the decrease in population in Boone County.
