Cases of COVID-19 Continue to Surge in W.Va. Death Toll Surpasses 1,000


The West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources reported 1,314 new cases of COVID-19.


As of 10 o’clock Tuesday morning, West Virginia has 21,019 active cases of coronavirus.


Since the onset of the outbreak, 1012 West Virginians have succumbed to the COVID-19. Thirty-four people died in the last 24 hours.


West Virginia has 65,708 cumulative cases of the virus.


Today’s daily positive infection rate is 9.61%.


According to the state DHHR color-coded map released this morning, numerous coalfields counties are in the orange category. Boone, Lincoln, Mingo, Wayne and Wyoming counties are all orange.


Statewide, there are 14 counties in the red.


Logan County is yellow.


McDowell County is Green.
