Gov. Beshear orders flags to half-staff for Floyd County officers



Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear ordered flags to half-staff from sunrise Tuesday to sunset on Thursday in honor of Floyd County officers killed during a standoff in Floyd County last week.


At approximately 6:30 p.m., officers attempted to serve an emergency protection order against 49-year-old Lance Storz, when they were met with gunfire.


Floyd County Deputy William Petry, Prestonsburg Police Captain Ralph Frasure and Floyd County K-9 Unit Drago were killed Thursday night. Prestonsburg Police Officer Jacob Chaffins died of his injuries on Friday.

Funeral services for Floyd County Sheriff’s Deputy and Martin City Fire Chief William Petry were Tuesday at the Mountain Arts Center in Prestonsburg.


Funeral services for Prestonsburg Police Captain Ralph Frasure will be conducted Wednesday, July 6, at 1 p.m. at the Mountain Arts Center in Prestonsburg.


Funeral services for Prestonsburg Police Officer Jacob Chaffins will be Thursday, at 1 p.m. at the Mountain Arts Center.
