The first baby of the new year 2022 was born Sunday afternoon at Logan Regional Medical Center.

Isabella Marie Chamber is a little bundle of joy born at 1:18 pm to parents Shirley Accord and Mathew Chambers III of Kistler.

Isabella weighed 6 pounds at birth and measured 19 inches in length.

“We are so excited to meet the newest member of our family,” new mother Shirley said. “We are so grateful to the physicians, nurses and staff at Logan Regional Medical Center for taking such good care of us and making this experience special for our family.”

The Women’s Center at Logan Regional offers three private laboring suites and private rooms for the postpartum period.

Isabella was delivered by OBGYN, Dr. Mousa.

“Our clinical and support staff are committed to creating a safe, welcoming and comfortable environment for moms and babies,” Dr. Mousa said. “It is on of our great privileges to help our community’s families welcome their newest additions in a positive and memorable way.”

As the first baby of the year, Isabella was showered in gifts. The biggest gift included a $1,000 scholarship to Southern West Virginia Community and Technical College.

Megan O’Brien, the Director of Women’s Services and Pediatrics for the Women’s Center at Logan Regional Medical Center, says the scholarship partnership is in the second year.

“I think that is just wonderful,” O’Brien said, “We are able to continue to invest in the future of our community.”

Isabella also received a basket of gifts and necessities from Hometown Flower Shop provided by the hospital and an engraved sterling silver bracelet donated by M&J Jewelers at Man. The New Year Baby also received gift cards and certificates from the Man Pic Pac, Melissa’s Gift Basket in Williamson, Chief’s Roadhouse and Walmart.
