There is potential help for diabetics in West Virginia if a new bill is passed in the legislature in the upcoming session.

Del. Matthew Rohrbach a Republican from Cabell County and Delegate Barbara Evans Fleischauer a Democrat from Monongalia County are working on co-sponsoring a bill that would lessen co-pays for diabetic supplies including oral medication and equipment like insulin pumps.

Health officials say this bill could help diabetics get their health under control and lessen their long-term damage.

West Virginia has the highest instance of diabetes in the nation at 15.7% of adults.

Logan and McDowell Counties are at the top with closer to 20% of adults with diabetes.
