One COVID-19 Death Reported In Logan Co. Sunday

The number of active coronavirus cases in West Virginia has surpassed 3,100, according to the state Department of Health and Human Resources.


The department on Sunday noted 3,143 active cases, a jump from 3,031 cases in Saturday morning’s report.


State health officials received 178 cases between Saturday and Sunday’s reports.

The number of deaths associated with the coronavirus pandemic increased to 266; the department in Sunday’s report confirmed the death of an 81-year-old female from Logan County.


Eight counties were in the orange or red categories in Saturday evening’s report, meaning face-to-face instruction and no sporting events for affected schools.


Monongalia County remained the only county in the state in the red category, while Kanawha, Putnam, Fayette, Boone, Logan, Mingo and Monroe counties were placed in the orange category.
