Logan County authorities are investigating a report of attempted child abduction.
The incident allegedly happened Tuesday at a home in the Whitman area.
According to the Logan County Sheriff’s Office, a woman approached a residence claiming to be a Child Protective Services worker. The woman ordered the victim to take a urine drug test and examined the child before attempting to take the child.
The victim noticed the suspect did not have any paperwork or official vehicle, took back the child and contacted authorities. Agents are required to wear their credentials while working.
Child Protective Services agents said a caseworker had not been assigned to visit the home and there was not any case on the victim.
The suspect has been identified as a white woman with a height of 5 feet 6 inches and weighing around 250 pounds. She had brown hair that was pulled on her head, and she was wearing a blue dress shirt, bootcut jeans, dress shoes and brown glasses at the time of the incident.
Anyone with information is asked to contact the Logan County Sheriff’s Office at 304-792-8590 or 304-752-7662.
