Chapmanville and Logan had mixed results over the weekend in the Big 10-Cardinal Conference Challenge.
Class AA No. 6 Chapmanville was a winner Saturday night at Class AAA No. 4 Elkins while AAA No. 3 Logan suffered a double-digit loss at No. 2 Fairmont Senior.
Chapmanville 52, Elkins 40: Sal Dean scored 19 points as Chapmanville built a 17-point third quarter lead and held off Elkins for a 12-point victory Saturday.
Dean was one of two Tigers to post a double-double hauling down 11 rebounds and also dishing out five assists in the win. Zion Blevins joined Dean in the double-double category with 12 points and 12 rebounds.
Brody Dalton just missed being the third Tiger to post a double-double finishing with nine points and 12 rebounds.
The Tigers held Elkins to just four second quarter points and held a 24-16 lead at halftime. In the third quarter, Chapmanville (1-0) extended its margin to 17 points before Elkins closed the gap to five, 40-35, thanks in part to a 12-0 run spanning the end of the third quarter and beginning of the fourth.
Cory Harper led Elkins (0-1) with 18 points and Malachi Watson added 12 points.
Chapmanville is back in action Tuesday night as they travel to Mingo Central.

Fairmont Senior 58, Logan 46: Zycheus Dobbs led all scorers with 21 points as Fairmont Senior opened defense of its Class AAA state championship with a 12-point victory over Logan.
The game was tied at 11 after one quarter, and Logan held a brief 26-25 lead in the second quarter, but the Polar Bears closed the half on a 5-0 run to take a 30-26 halftime lead.
The Polar Bears never trailed again and led by as many as 14 points in the fourth quarter. Logan never got closer than nine points the rest of the way.
Scotty Browning led Logan with 18 points while Garrett Williamson added 11 points and Derrick Browning nine for the Wildcats.
Andre Grant scored 14 for Fairmont Senior who also got 11 points from DeSean Goode and 10 points from Connor Gower.
Logan (1-1) returns to action Tuesday night when they host Class A No. 9 Tug Valley.
