A train collided with a car at a crossing in Chapmanville Wednesday afternoon.
The crash occurred around 3pm at the Commerce Park Circle crossing.
Social worker Michelle Ford witnessed the crash. She said she was outside on the telephone at the time and heard the whistle.
“I said out loud,” Ford recalled, “I think that car is going to cross… and I wasn’t able to finish my sentence. It slowly crossed that crossing right in the path of the train.”
The Jaws of Life were used to extricate the driver, according to Chapmanville Firefighter Cody Perry.
The driver and passenger did not appear to sustain any major injuries, but they were transported to Logan Regional Medical Center for further evaluation.
Chapmanville Police Department is investigating.
