W.Va. COVID Numbers Continue To Surpass Previous Peaks


Despite technical issues with the West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources dashboard, the state continues to surpass previous peaks of hospitalized COVID patients.


Statewide, 879 Mountain State residents are hospitalized for COVID-19. The previous peak for hospitalizations was January fifth and that peak was surpassed last weekend. There are 267 patients in intensive care units and 158 of those patients are on ventilators. Today’s numbers of hospitalized patients are new highs since the outbreak started.


As of Tuesday morning, 1,473 new infections were confirmed through laboratory testing.


W.Va. Has 28,035 active cases of COVID-19.


The state DHHR also reported 23 additional deaths over the last 24 hours from COVID-19.


Since the onset of the outbreak, a total of 3,261 West Virginians have succumbed to the virus.
