Williamson resigns as Logan High School Varsity Head Basketball Coach

LOGAN Logan High School head basketball coach resigns.

The Wildcats will soon be on the prowl for a new varsity head basketball coach following Thursday’s resignation of Jeff Williamson.

The resignation comes after a rather successful season with Williamson at the helm. The Wildcats won both sectional and regional championships. Williamson’s Wildcats ended the season ranked number five in Class AAA with a 16-10 season record.

Williamson's abrupt departure was announced on his personal Facebook page.

“Thank you to everyone that supported the program during my tenure,” Williamson said in his resignation announcement.

Williamson has coached on the high school and college level. He served as an assistant coach at his alma mater Salem University and West Virginia Tech. Williamson was also named conference coach of the year at Garden City High School in Kansas shortly before coming to Logan last year and was a state coach of the year finalist in Oklahoma 2021.

Williamson's parting graphic, including Luke 12:1-3, raised questions. In this scripture Jesus cautions followers to live in the Kingdom of God and not under the hypocrisy of the Pharisees.

2 There is nothing concealed that will not be disclosed, or hidden that will not be made known.

3 What you have said in the dark will be heard in the daylight, and what you have whispered in the ear in the inner rooms will be proclaimed from the roofs.

Williamson was unavailable for comment as of press time.
