30 Deaths in 24-Hours, WV DHHR


The country is currently experiencing it’s sharpest decline of new cases to date. The same is true for W.Va. Active cases are trending down while the numbers of the recovered continue to rise. However, deaths from the virus have remained constant.


The West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources reported 30 deaths over the last 24-hours.


Since the onset of the outbreak, 1,983 West Virginians have succumbed to the virus.


The state DHHR also reported 787 new cases of COVID-19.


As of 10 o’clock Thursday morning, West Virginia has 23,140 active cases of coronavirus.


Today’s daily positive infection rate is 4.82%.


The Mountain State has administered 175,317 doses of the first round of vaccine. As of press time, 51,741 residents have received both rounds of shots.


According to the state DHHR county alert map released this morning, eighteen counties are in the red category. Red zone counties include Logan, Boone, Mingo and Wayne.


Orange counties include Lincoln, Wyoming and 25 other counties.


McDowell, Clay and Calhoun counties are gold.


Six counties are yellow.


Tucker County is still the only green county


West Virginia has 118,562 cumulative cases of coronavirus.
