Chapmanville Little League one-hit, eliminated by Jefferson, 10-0

Jefferson Little League stayed alive in the West Virginia Little League 10-12 State Tournament with a dominant 10-0, four-inning victory over Chapmanville on Monday at Barboursville Park. Connor Craze tossed a one-hit shutout, retiring the first 11 batters he faced, while Paxton Thomas drove in two runs to lead the offense. Myles Mumaw added an RBI and scored twice as Jefferson advanced to face Huntington in Tuesday night's Mountaineer Bracket elimination game, continuing its bid for a second straight state championship.

Myles Mumaw had one hit, drove in one run and scored two runs, and Wyatt

Horn and Beckett Mason each had one hit and one RBI for Jefferson.

Craze retired the first 11 Chapmanville batters before Cole Deskins singled

with two outs in the fourth inning. Craze got Grayson Bryant to ground into a

fielders’ choice for the final out to keep Jefferson alive in its quest for back-to-

back state champions.

Jefferson, who lost to Chapmanville in last year’s finals of the Herd bracket,

but rebounded to defeat Chapmanville in the state championship, will face

Huntington at 8 p.m. Tuesday night.

Chapmanville starter Grady Lambert allowed nine runs – five earned – on four

hits in two innings. He walked five and struck out two.
