CHAPMANVILLE Kohl Farmer rushed for 191 yards and three touchdowns to lead the 19th ranked Chapmanville Tigers to a 49-7 victory over the 11th ranked Logan Wildcats in a battle of Class AA ranked team Friday night at Barker Stadium.
Farmer entered the game with 810 rushing yards after seven games. Farmer eclipsed the 1,000-yard mark on his final carry, a 6-yard gain in the fourth quarter, and finished with 191 yards on 36 carries to push his season total to 1,001 yards.
Farmer, who entered the game second in rushing and scoring in the Cardinal Conference, surpassed Wayne's Jaxson Damron to take over the top spot in rushing and now leads Logan's Aiden Slack by one point in the scoring category. He also leads the conference with 18 touchdowns.
The Tigers (5-3, 5-3 Cardinal Conference) have won two consecutive games to remain in the Class AA playoff hunt meanwhile Logan (6-3, 4-3), who has lost two of its last three games, missed out on an opportunity to clinch its first playoff berth since 2013.
A block in the back penalty and back-to-back receptions resulting in negative yardage ruined what could have been a promising opening drive for Logan forcing them to go three and out on its opening possession.
Chapmanville took over on its own 29 and drove 71 yards in 12 plays. The drive capped off by a 1-yard Brody Dalton run chewed up 6:24 and gave the Tigers a 7-0 with 3:35 to play in the opening quarter.
Logan's Julius Clancy hauled in two receptions for 16 yards on the Wildcats next offensive series, but on his third catch he was stripped of the football as the Tigers recovered the loose pigskin and took over at the Wildcat 37 with 2:41 to play.
Five plays later, quarterback Brody Dalton hooked up with Austin Adkins for a 30-yard touchdown pass to give the Tigers a 15-0 lead following a successful two-point conversion pass with 0:43 remaining.
The turnover bug struck Logan as Slack was stripped of the football allowing the Tigers to take over the Wildcat 14.
Two plays later, Dalton ran in from 6-yards to give the Tigers a 22-0 lead with 0:24 in the opening quarter.
Logan cut the deficit to 22-7 as Drew Berry found Garrett Williamson for a 10-yard touchdown pass with 9:12 to play in the second quarter.
Chapmanville answered with a 13-play, 68-yard drive capped off by a 2-yard touchdown from Farmer to take a 29-7 lead with 1:59 to play before halftime.
Logan fumbled the ensuing kickoff and Chapmanville recovered at the Wildcat 24. Five plays later, Dalton found Jacob Blair for a 7-yard touchdown with 0:14 remaining to give the Tigers a 36-7 lead.
The Tigers tacked on a pair of 10-yard rushing touchdowns in the fourth quarter as Farmer scored with 9:50 remaining to increase Chapmanville's lead to 42-7 and Stallard scored from 10 yards with 4:14 remaining to make it 49-7.
Dalton completed 7 of 10 passes for 73 yards and two touchdowns and ran for 47 yards on eight carries and one touchdown. Adkins caught two passes for 43 yards and one touchdown.
For Logan, Gabe Workman rushed for 86 yards on six carries while Berry was 13 for 17 passing for 58 yards with one touchdown and one interception. Clancy caught seven passes for 18 yards
Chapmanville will travel to Mingo Central Friday night while Logan returns to action Nov. 4 when they host Herbert Hoover.
