Johnson strikes out nine, Miley Fleming drives in three as Logan beats Virginia 8-1 in Senior League Southeast Regional
Logan Senior League All-Star pitcher Mia Johnson struck out nine batters and allowed just one unearned run as Logan defeated York County (Va.) 8-1 Saturday in an elimination game at the Senior League Softball Southeast Regional. Miley Fleming drove in three runs to help send Logan into the tournament's Final Four.

CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. Mia Johnson struck out nine while Miley Fleming

drove in three runs for the Logan Senior League All Stars in an 8-1 win over

York County Senior League in an elimination contest of Senior League

Softball Southeast Regional Saturday afternoon at Civitan Park.


Johnson, who allowed one unearned run on six hits and two walks, picked up

her second win in the circle to advance Logan to the Final Four of the

Southeast Regional. She also had two hits and scored one run.

Logan will face St. Bethlehem (Tennessee) Senior League at 6:30 p.m.

Sunday with the winner advancing to Monday’s championship round at 11:00

a.m. against the loser of Hart County (Georgia) and Irmo (South Carolina).


Miley Fleming had two hits, drove in three runs and scored three times. Lena

Setser had a two-run first inning double and Myah Kirkendall had three hits

including a pair of doubles to go along with one RBI.

York County’s Tahlia Evans gave up five runs on six hits, walked one and hit

one batter in 1 2/3 innings.


Logan took a 2-0 lead in the first inning on Setser’s double to left field scoring

Kirkendall and Miley Fleming.

Virginia scored its only run in the bottom of the first when Aria Jones doubled

to left bringing home Allie Mair.


Miley Fleming singled in the third to score Johnson and Kinley Steele and

Kirkendall brought Fleming home with a double to left to give Logan a 5-1

lead.


Miley Fleming drove in her third run with a sixth inning single, Lilly Fleming

scored on a passed ball and Zoe Chaney laid down a sacrifice bunt to score

Miley Fleming for an 8-1 Logan lead.


Breya McVey had two hits for York County, Jones had one hit and one RBI

and Karley Estrada, Leah Hunter and Tenley Medling each had one hit.


Steele had two hits for Logan and Lilly Fleming and Ayla Vance each had one

hit.
