Kolovich, Blankenship carry Chapmanville Little Leaguepast Logan Little League in8-10 Softball State Tournament
Adalynn Kolovich drove in three runs and Charity Blankenship tossed a three-hitter as Chapmanville Little League rallied past Logan Little League, 5-4, in Tuesday's semifinal round of the West Virginia Little League 8-10 Softball State Tournament at Little Creek Park. The win sends Chapmanville into Wednesday's state championship game against Barboursville and avenges a 9-0 loss to Logan in the District 2 tournament championship game last month.

SOUTH CHARLESTON Adalynn Kolovich drove in three runs and Charity

Blankenship tossed a three hitter and the Chapmanville Little League beat

Logan Little 5-4 in the semifinals of the West Virginia Little League 8-10

Softball State Tournament at Little Creek Park.


With the win, Chapmanville avenged an earlier defeat to Logan, 9-0, in the

West Virginia Little League District 2 8-10 Softball Tournament on June 21.

The victory also advances Chapmanville into Wednesday’s state

championship game against the Barboursville Little League, who defeated

South Berkeley, 11-0, in the second semifinal on Tuesday.


Kolovich had a two-run single in the first and an RBI groundout in the fourth

while Blankenship allowed four unearned runs on three hits over six innings,

striking out 14 and walking seven.

Shelby Collins got Chapmanville on the board with an RBI groundout to score

Aubrey Anderson with the games first run. Two batters later, Kolovich’s single

brought home Collins and Blankenship to put Chapmanville up 3-0.


Logan answered with a run in the bottom of the first when Keke Lowe scored

on a wild pitch to cut the deficit to 3-1.


Collins scored on an error in the fourth and Sadye Kovach scored on

Kolovich’s groundout to put Chapmanville ahead 5-1 before Logan responded

with two runs in the bottom of the fourth.


Sadie Eldridge scored on a passed to bring Logan within three runs, 5-2, and

Naomi Adkins scored on Avery Jackson’s groundout to make it 5-3 after four

innings.


Logan drew to with one run, 5-4, in the sixth when Lowe scored on an error.


Logan got the tying run on base when Adkins reached on an error, but

Blankenship got Aubreigh Boggs to strike out swinging and Ellie Green to

ground out to end the game.


Eldridge tossed six innings in the circle for Logan allowing five unearned runs

on two hits, struck out 13, walked three and hit one batter.


Anderson had one hit for Chapmanville, Collins drove in one run and scored

two times and Blankenship and Kovach each scored once.


Jackson had one hit and one RBI for Logan and Adkins and Eldridge each

had one hit and one RBI and Lowe scored two runs.
