On Tuesday, Governor Jim Justice announced a tiered pricing system with reduced prices on lifetime hunting and fishing licenses for young outdoors enthusiasts.
A news releases from the governor’s office detailed reduced costs associated with lifetime permits for anglers and hunter until their fifteenth birthday.
The reduction on price equals a 60% discount for permits purchased before a child’s first birthday. The discount shrinks as the child older. Permits will have a 45% discount if bought before the child’s fifth birthday, 25% if purchased before the child turns 10 and 10% discount before the child’s fifteenth birthday.
A lifetime hunting and fishing license typically runs about $800. The new pricing system with discounts will equal:
$322 before the first birthday
$442.75 before the fifth birthday
$603.75 before the tenth birthday
$724.50 before fifteenth birthday
The discounts also apply to resident lifetime trout stamps. The price of a trout stamp typically runs around $230. The new pricing system with discounts will equal:
$92 before the first birthday
$126.50 before the fifth birthday
$172.50 before the tenth birthday
$207 befor ethe fifteenth birthday
Justice signed the programs into law last April.
