Logan falls to South Carolina, drops to elimination bracket in Senior League Southeast Regional
Senior League Softball Southeast Regional: Logan Senior League dropped into the elimination bracket after an 11-4 loss to South Carolina champion Irmo on Saturday at Civitan Park. Logan will face Virginia champion York County Senior League on Sunday at 1:30 p.m. in an elimination game.

CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. Logan Senior League never got going Saturday

afternoon and was defeated by Irmo Senior League, state champion from

South Carolina, 11-4 in the Senior League Softball Southeast Regional

Saturday afternoon at Civitan Park.


With the loss, Logan falls into the elimination bracket, where they will meet the

Virginia state champion, York County Senior League, Sunday afternoon at

1:30 p.m.


Irmo, who jumped out to a 7-0 after three innings, advances to the

championship round of the Southeast Regional and will face Georgia state

champion, Hart County Senior League, Sunday afternoon at 4:00 p.m.

One day after scoring 11 runs in its opening win over Florida, Logan was

limited to four runs on five hits by two Irmo pitchers.


Ainsley Minchew allowed three runs on four hits in 5 2/3 innings, striking out

12 and walking two. Katherine Goff allowed one run on one hit in 1 1/3

innings, striking out one, walking one and hitting one.


Katherine Shealy was 3 for 5 with double, one run and one RBI and Adelynn

Broughton went 2 for 2 with a triple, two runs and drove in two runs for Irmo.

Minchew and Laney Stephens each had one hit and two RBIs and Rilynn

Earle drove in one run.


Miley Fleming was 2 for 3 with a pair of doubles for Logan and Zoe Chaney,

Mia Johnson and Myah Kirkendall each had one hit and scored one run.


Lena Setser allowed five runs, two earned, and three hits in 2 1/3 innings,

striking out one and walking two. Chaney allowed six runs and 10 hits in 4 2/3

innings with six strikeouts and two walks.


Logan was outhit by Irmo, 13-5, and committed six errors to Irmo’s five.

If Logan defeats York County Sunday, they will play a second game on

Sunday and face the winner between a pair of Tennessee teams, host St.

Bethlehem Senior League and state champion Montgomery Central Senior

League, at 6:30 p.m.
