WILKINSON A 34-year-old Omar man is facing multiple charges following an alleged sexual assault at a Speedway gas station in Wilkinson early Saturday morning.
According to the Logan County Sheriff’s Department, deputies and officers with the Logan and Chapmanville police departments responded to the business at approximately 3:04 a.m. on October 17, 2026, after receiving a report of a sexual assault.
Investigators said a clerk told officers that a customer, identified as Robert Clark, had brandished a machete, forced her into a restroom and sexually assaulted her.
According to the department, Clark was still inside the store when officers arrived. They located him in the restroom, where he was reportedly armed with the machete.
Authorities said Clark resisted officers, kicked the restroom door shut and brandished the machete at them before eventually complying with commands and being taken into custody.
The clerk was transported to Logan Regional Medical Center for treatment. Clark was taken to Cabell Huntington Hospital for treatment of an injury to his arm. He was released later that day, according to the sheriff’s department.
Clark was charged with first-degree sexual assault and two counts of assault on a law enforcement officer. He was arraigned in Cabell County before being transported to the Western Regional Jail.
The sheriff’s department said additional charges may be forthcoming and the investigation remains ongoing.
