MAN One man is recovering in the hospital and another is in custody following a stabbing that took place Wednesday morning on Main Street in the Town of Man.

According to Logan County Chief Deputy Michael LaFauci, deputies responded to a report from Logan County 911 of the stabbing around 9:50 a.m. Upon arrival, Corporal Crum found the victim, Steve Caldwell of Accoville suffering from a stab wound to the torso. Caldwell was conscious and alert at the scene and identified his attacker as 72-year-old Johnny Pruitt also of Accoville.

Officers assisted in providing medical aid, and Caldwell was flown by HealthNet to CAMC General in Charleston for treatment.

Deputies said several witnesses confirmed that Caldwell and Pruitt were involved in a physical altercation on Main Street when Pruitt produced a knife and stabbed Caldwell. Investigators also learned the incident stemmed from a long-standing property dispute between the two men.

Pruitt was located at his residence in Accoville and was taken into custody without incident. He is currently being held and is awaiting arraignment by the Logan County Magistrate Court.
