RGSWV to host annual Save a Life Day and Recovery Walk

LOGAN Recovery Group of Southern West Virginia will host its 13th annual Save a Life Day and Recovery Walk Thursday in Logan.
According to Mountain Laurel Integrated Healthcare, the event is meant to bring together people in recovery, their families and community members for an afternoon focused on prevention, support and remembering those lost to addiction.
The event will take place at the grassy area near the entrance to Dingess Street. Activities begin at 4 p.m. The Recovery Walk itself is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m. Organizers are encouraging participants to wear purple and walk alongside people and families who have been affected by substance-use disorder.
A free Narcan distribution will be held from 1 to 2 p.m. Organizers say no appointment is needed to receive Narcan. The event will also include a resource table with information about local recovery services, along with giveaways, prizes and additional resources for people seeking help.
Guest speakers will share their recovery experiences and testimonies throughout the event. Organizers also have planned live music, refreshments, fellowship, games, entertainment and a cornhole tournament.
The event will include a display of luminary bags honoring people who have lost their lives to drug addiction. The luminaries are intended to give families and community members an opportunity to remember loved ones while also recognizing the ongoing impact of addiction in southern West Virginia.
The event's theme is "God Is Still Writing Your Story."
The Recovery Group of Southern West Virginia is sponsoring the event in partnership with Save a Life Day. Organizers are inviting the public to attend, learn about available recovery resources, honor loved ones and support efforts to prevent overdoses and encourage recovery throughout the community.
