Social media threat in Kentucky sets off precautionary lockdown in Mingo County Schools



MINGO COUNTY Mingo County Schools on a precautionary lockdown due to a social media threat.


The lockdown was issued once communication from law enforcement in Boyd County, Kentucky reported multiple surrounding counties mentioned in a threatening social media post.


Procedures for a lockdown countywide dictates no one will be permitted to enter or exit the school buildings while the lockdown is in effect, according to the county school district.


The official announcement from Mingo County Schools also said updates will be made when available including when the lockdown is lifted.


A statement on the county school district's own social media says police continue to investigate the matter.
