The West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources reported near five thousand new cases of COVID-19 Thursday.
The state DHHR confirmed a total of 4,947 new infections of the virus since the department’s last update Wednesday.
20 deaths were reported bringing the state’s death toll to 5,392 fatalities.
Hospitals are currently treating 758 patients for coronavirus. Statewide, 201 of those hospitalized with the virus are receiving intensive care treatment and 115 patients require ventilators to breathe.
The Mountain State currently has 11,793 active cases of COVID-19.
