Step by Step to become Boys & Girls Clubs of Central West Virginia

CHARLESTON A nonprofit organization serving children and families in southern West Virginia is preparing for a new identity as it moves toward joining the Boys & Girls Clubs of America.
Step by Step, Incorporated has announced plans to become a chartered member of the national organization and transition to a new name: Boys & Girls Clubs of Central West Virginia.
The organization currently operates 18 funded after-school program sites during the school year across Logan, Lincoln and Kanawha counties. Its services also include Family Support Centers and other supplemental community programs.
In announcing the change, CEO and Executive Director of Programming Michael L. Farmer said the transition will allow the organization to build on its existing services while gaining access to additional resources through the national network.
Those resources include potential funding opportunities, program support and professional training, which the organization says could help expand services and reach more young people throughout West Virginia.
Farmer said the transition will not change the organization's commitment to providing after-school and community-based programming. Existing services and the organization's relationships with families and community partners will remain central to its mission.
Additional details about the transition and any changes affecting families and community partners are expected to be announced as the process moves forward.
The organization has not announced a specific completion date for the transition.
