According to a news release, as of Sunday, West Virginia is leading the nation in administering COVID-19 vaccines.
The state has administered 15,046 doses of the Pfizer vaccine, out of 16,575 doses received -- a 90.78% administration rate.
The plan in West Virginia has been to distribute the initial doses to those in long-term care facilities and front line healthcare workers first. West Virginia is in what Gov. Justice calls Phase I of the distribution plan.
With the Moderna vaccine on the way, Justice said the state is ready to continue distributing the doses and called on residents to answer the call and get the vaccine.
