Woman killed by train identified

WVOW NEWS

HUNTINGTON The identity of a woman killed by a train Tuesday has been released.

According to Huntington police, 63-year-old Pamela S. Deel, of Huntington, was the victim struck by a CSX engine that was traveling across the railroad bridge Tuesday afternoon near Riverside Drive.

A police department spokesman told MetroNews the bridge is often used as a shortcut to get across the Guyandotte River into the Guyandotte community.

Other reports indicated Deel was trying to get off the bridge but couldn’t when she was struck. The train’s engineer told police he tried to stop the train but couldn’t do so in time.
