LOGAN A woman was taken to Logan Regional Medical Center last night after being struck by a vehicle in Logan.

According to bystanders and family members at the scene, the woman was leaving a graduation celebration for a student in Southern West Virginia Community & Technical College’s LPN program when her husband reportedly lost control of his truck and struck her in the parking lot of The 1910 on Main Street.

The woman was thrown to the ground by the impact, hitting her head off the pavement of the parking lot. Nearby witnesses called emergency services and stayed with the woman until help could arrive.

Family members attributed the incident to an issue with the husband’s prosthetic leg.

The woman suffered an injury to the back of her head. An officer with the City of Logan Police Department was the first to arrive on scene and placed a temporary dressing on the wound until EMTs arrived to transport her to the hospital.

She was alert and conversing with witnesses shortly after the incident, but her current condition as of press time is unknown.
