13 Deaths, 500 New Infections & 15 Counties Red Tues, According To WV DHHR


The West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources reported 502 additional infections of COVID-19 Tuesday.


West Virginia has 6,753 active cases of coronavirus.


Thirteen additional deaths were reported this morning. Since the onset of the outbreak, a total of 4,770 Mountain State residents have succumbed to COVID-19.


Hospitalizations are up with 528 patients statewide. There are 179patients in intensive care units and 101 of those patients require ventilators.

The latest county alert map published by the state DHHR has 15 counties in the red zone.


The map measures the severity of community spread within each county. Red indicates the most severe spread of coronavirus in the state. Red counties include Boone and Mingo.


The second most severe category is orange and the lion’s share of counties are orange today. A total of 26 counties are in the orange zone including Logan, Lincoln, McDowell and Wayne.


Fourcounties are gold.


Wyoming is yellow along with six other counties.


Three counties are green.
