LOGAN Parts of Logan, Boone and Wyoming counties received flash flood warnings Sunday evening after a storm system stalled over the region, dumping continuous rain.

Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing flooding rainfall across the area yesterday evening. Upwards of two inches of rain built up over a short time on already saturated ground, quickly overwhelming streams and drain systems.

In Logan County, flash flooding impacted the areas of Logan, Chapmanville, Chief Logan State Park, Mount Gay-Shamrock, Holden, West Logan, Mitchell Heights, Verdunville, Switzer and Chauncey.

Water levels climbed into the road in the Pecks Mill area, causing more road damage after a previous washout along Long Fork Road. On Sunday’s edition of World View of Wrestling, local wrestler and promoter Danny Ray Nelson said high water prevented him from driving to be on the show in person.

"It looks like a lake in front of Mister Vee's Autobody down there, and Garrett Fork — I guess I'm locked in for a little while," Nelson said.

The storm also knocked out power in spots. Just a handful of outages remain across the area as of Monday morning.

Today, the region seems to be out of the worst of it for now. Expect a day of clouds marked with moments of sunshine throughout the day. There is a remote chance for additional rainfall and a thunderstorm this afternoon. Highs in the mid-eighties.

Tonight, the rain should let up, and we should feel it cool off to the sixties under partly cloudy skies before we start to climb towards the nineties by Tuesday afternoon and even warmer on into the second half of the week.
