WV Back-to-School Tax-Free Weekend Begins July 31
CHARLESTON West Virginia shoppers will soon have a chance to save on back-to-school purchases during the state's annual sales tax holiday.
The tax-free weekend begins at 12:01 a.m. on Friday, July 31st, and continues through 11:59 p.m. on Monday, August 3rd.
During that time, qualifying items can be purchased without paying state sales tax. Eligible items include clothing priced at $125 or less per item, laptops and tablets costing $500 or less, school instructional materials up to $20, school supplies up to $50, and sports equipment priced at $150 or less.
State officials say there is no limit on the total amount a shopper can spend, but purchases made for use in a trade or business do not qualify for the exemption.
