Alvis Porter, Jr. Is The New Logan County Administrator

A new county administrator was hired during the Logan County Commission meeting Monday.

Commissioners voted unanimously to employee Alvis Porter, Jr. to replace Rocky Adkins as county administrator. Adkins was serving simultaneously as county administrator and the economic development director.

Commissioner Diana Barnette first broached the idea of splitting the responsibilities into two different positions last month. On Monday, Barnette explained that the commission has grown, and the positions demand more attention than one person can handle.

able to devote a lot of time to economic development.”

Adkins will continue as the economic development director.

Commission President Danny Godby said several economic opportunities are already primed for development.

“We’ve got some things out in the making as far as economic development is concerned” Godby said. “I don’t want to say anything for sure right now, but it’s right on the verge.”

Porter is the son of former Circuit Clerk Alvis Porter, the Pastor of the New Life Freewill Baptist Church and was previously employed by the W.Va. Treasurer’s Office for eighteen years.

Porter will begin his new duties in the county June first.
