JULIAN Authorities are investigating an alleged bomb threat they claim was likely a "swatting" call. Swatting calls are false emergency reports called in to send authorities to a location without an incident.

According to a West Virginia Department of Homeland Security spokesperson, the incident was reported at Water Ways just outside of Julian. Water Ways announced Wednesday afternoon on social media that they would be closed for the rest of the day. The announcement did not offer any details, although news of the alleged bomb threat broke later in the day.

According to West Virginia State Police, nothing was found after a sweep of the water park. Authorities believe this incident was connected to the swatting.

The motive behind the swatting calls remains unknown.
