Baisden’s 4 TD passes leads Logan to 32-6 win over Wayne; Wildcats 4-0 for first time since ‘22

LOGAN Adam Baisden threw four touchdown passes, three in the first quarter, and Class AA No. 11 Logan beat 15th-ranked Wayne 32-6 Friday night at Willis Nisbet Stadium.


Baisden completed 15 of 27 passes for 306 yards and four touchdowns to lead the Wildcats to their first 4-0 start since the 2022 season.


First year Logan coach Nick Booth became the first coach to win his first four games in his career since Pat Quarles, who won his first five games in 1926.


Zo Murphy had five receptions for 149 yards, including a 36-yard touchdown. Gage Green caught four passes for 77 yards and caught a 20-yard touchdown.


Baisden threw touchdown passes to four different receivers, including a 3-yard touchdown to Caden Justice and a 28-yarder to Lucas Lambert, and completed 12 passes of 10 yards or more with eight of the 12 passes going for more than 20 yards.


Logan scored 19 first quarter points on the strength of three Baisden touchdown passes.


Baisden hooked up with Justice for a 3-yard touchdown with 10:31 remaining to give Logan a 6-0 lead.


Lambert hauled in a 28-yard touchdown with 8:05 to play in the opening quarter to extend the Wildcats advantage to 12-0 and Murphy capped the scoring with a 36-yard touchdown reception to make it 19-0 with 6:11 to play in the first quarter.


LuVantee’ Keeney’s 3-yard touchdown run put the Wildcats up 25-0 with 8:15 to play in the second quarter.


Wayne got on the scoreboard in the third quarter when Eli Haffer returned a blocked field goal 90 yards for the Pioneers only score with 7:51 remaining.


Baisden connected with Green for a 20-yard touchdown with 1:58 left in the third to put Logan up 32-6.


Jayden Waymon rushed for 40 yards on 12 carries for Wayne (2-2) and Haffer completed 3 of his 4 passes for 30 yards.


Wayne travels to Class A No. 8 Sherman Friday night while Logan returns to action in two weeks hosting Clay County on October 3.
