FAYETTEVILLE Barboursville defeated Logan, 13-4, in the losers bracket finals of the Herd bracket Wednesday evening in the West Virginia Little League Softball State Tournament at Charlie McCoy Town Park.
With the win, Barboursville advances to play Mountaineer bracket winner Hite Saunders on Thursday.
Barboursville plated four runs in the first inning and never trailed as they plated two runs in the third, three more in the fifth and four in the sixth to win going away.
Abby Salmons led Barboursville, going 2-for-3 with a double, triple, two RBIs and two runs scored. Salmons was one of five Barboursville players to have at least one extra base hit.
Uyen Pham had two hits including a triple and one RBI while Scarlett Armstrong had a double to with two RBIs. Brooklynn Cremeans tripled, and Kenzi Peak doubled for Barboursville, who also got a hit and one RBI from Kollyns Eastham and a single from Chole Casey.
Casey earned the win for Barboursville, striking out 12, walking six in six innings of work with four runs allowed on six hits.
Abby Ellis was 3-for-3 with a double, two runs scored and one RBI for Logan at the plate. Ellis had half of Logan’s hits, six total, while Daphne Ellis had one hit and one RBI.
Peyton Sigmon had one hit and scored twice, and Kenlee Tomblin had a triple.
Taylor Akers allowed nine runs on seven hits in 4 1/3 innings with four strikeouts and three walks. Daphne Ellis worked 1 2/3 innings of relief in the circle, allowing four runs on three hits while striking out two and walking one.
