A bat discovery in a classroom prompted an early dismissal on Tuesday and a continued closure on Wednesday for Chapmanville Regional High School.
A bat discovery in a classroom prompted an early dismissal on Tuesday and a continued closure on Wednesday for Chapmanville Regional High School.

CHAPMANVILLE Chapmanville Regional High School closed Wednesday after a bat was found in one of the classrooms on Tuesday.


The discovery prompted a one-hour early dismissal for Chapmanville High students Tuesday and the school remains closed on Wednesday.


Logan County Schools, in a Facebook post following the dismissal, said the classroom was evacuated and an exterminator, Phillips Pest Control, was contacted. A post to the website of the West Virginia Department of Education says the school is closed due to a pest problem

As of press time, it isn’t clear if the closure at Chapmanville Regional will continue past Wednesday.


Chapmanville Middle also dismissed early on Tuesday, however that was said to be a transportation issue at the time and Chapmanville Middle is set to operate on the regular schedule for Wednesday.
