A bone marrow donor registry drives will be conducted in Logan Saturday.
The events are organized by friends and family of Melissa Fleming, a Logan County native. She was diagnosed with terminal Multiple Myeloma, a rare blood cancer. Fleming is a single mother of two and will need a bone marrow transplant.
One event will be hosted at the Hot Cup in Logan between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. Another event will be hosted at Thornhill Ford in Chapmanville between 2 p.m and 4 p.m. The events are just two of ten locations throughout the state that will be participating tomorrow.
Donors must be between the ages of 18 and 44 and provide a cheek swab. It’s simple, easy, and painless. The goal for Logan is 50 new donors on the registry.
If you can't attend, text "TEAMRED" to 61474 to start the process to get an at home swab kit.
Each day 480 people are diagnosed with a blood cancer.
