The West Virginia Secondary Schools Activities Commission kicked of the state baseball tournament Thursday afternoon with a pair of semifinal games in the Class AAA bracket.
The #1 ranked Hurricane defeated the St. Albans Red Dragons 10-7. Moreover, Hurricane’s victory marked their thirty-second straight win this season.
Later on, #3 Bridgeport defeated #2 Jefferson with a final score 7-5. The win goes to pitcher Chris Harbert who struck out seven, walked four and allowed three runs over five innings of work.
Bridgeport will now face Hurricane in the AAA State Championship Saturday morning.
All three state championship games will be broadcast on WVOW Radio beginning at 10 o’clock tomorrow morning with the AAA Championship. The approximate start time for the AA Championship game to begin is 12:45 p.m and the Single A Championship at 3:45 p.m.
