Logan County Schedule Preview: Reigning AAA champion Princeton highlights Tigers schedule

CHAPMANVILLE A year after putting together the best regular season in
program history, the Chapmanville Tigers will begin the 2026 football season
with something they did not have a year ago: a target on their backs.
Chapmanville finished the 2025 regular season unbeaten, setting a school
record with 12 victories and advancing to the Class AAA semifinals. The
Tigers’ season ultimately ended with a 36-13 semifinal loss to Nitro, leaving a
talented program with plenty of motivation heading into the new campaign.
Now, the Tigers face a 10-game regular-season schedule that includes
several familiar opponents, three new opponents and a pair of Class AAA
schools that provide a significant test for Chapmanville.
The journey begins Friday, August 28, at Scott, giving Chapmanville a road
assignment to open the season. Last season, the Tigers snapped a four-game
losing streak to the Skyhawks, and will be looking for its first win at Scott since
defeating the Skyhawks, 48-14, during the 2018 season.
Chapmanville opens the home portion of its 2026 schedule on September 4
when they host South Charleston in the first meeting in school history
between the two schools.
The Black Eagles are one of three new opponents on the Tigers schedule and
are expected to be a Class AAA playoff contender this season.
In addition to three new opponents on the schedule, the Tigers will play four
Class AAA schools this season, which is two more than last season.
Chapmanville will be back on the road on September 11 traveling to Point
Pleasant. The matchup with the Big Blacks will be the eighth in school history,
the past six won by Point Pleasant and it carries some historical importance.
Point Pleasant defeated Chapmanville, 33-13, in the Class AA semifinals,
Chapmanville’s first semifinal appearance in school history, at Ohio Valley
Bank Stadium. Chapmanville has not beat Point Pleasant since winning the
first meeting between the two schools, 27-6, on November 2, 2007 at Barker
Stadium.
Chapmanville welcomes the reigning Class AAA champion Princeton to
Barker Stadium on September 18 in the first ever meeting in school history
between the two teams.
Princeton defeated Nitro, 36-35, to win its first ever state football
championship and is expected to be one of the favorites in Class AAA this
season.
The Tigers host Williamstown, a Class AA school that has qualified for the
postseason in 26 straight seasons, on September 25, before hitting the road
for three of their final five games to close the season.
Following an October 2 bye week, the Tigers start a five game second half
stretch that could determine possible seeding in the postseason.
Chapmanville travels to county rival Man on October 9 for a matchup with the
Class A Hillbillies and will return home to host the Wayne Pioneers on
October 16 and host county rival Logan on October 23.
Chapmanville closes the regular season with back-to-back road games,
starting on October 30 on top of Miner Mountain against the Miners of Mingo
Central and will conclude the regular season at St. Albans on November 6.
