LOGAN  Maddie Carroll tossed a three-hitter and Kennedy Schilling hit a pair of home runs and drove in five for Class AA No. 9 Winfield in the Lady Generals 9-0 five inning mercy rule victory over third ranked Logan Saturday afternoon at Bea Orr Field.

Carroll struck out seven and did not walk a batter while throwing 43 of 56 pitches for strikes. It was the Lady Generals 10th win in their last 11 games as they snapped Logan’s three-game winning streak.

Carroll allowed a two-out triple to Taylor Noe in the bottom of the first inning but retired the next 11 batters in the Lady Wildcats line before Lacy Curry singled with one out in the bottom of the fifth inning.

Isabella Propst singled with two outs in the fifth to give Logan a pair of runners on base for the first time all afternoon, however, Carroll got Emilee Mullins to strike out swinging ending the game.

Schilling’s two-run home run in the first and three-run shot in the third powered the offense for Winfield, who had 13 hits in the win.

Rylee McClellan, who had three hits including two doubles to go along with two RBIs and two runs scored, and Ava Cole added three singles scored twice and drove in a run for the Lady Generals.

Logan starting pitcher Harlee Quick allowed nine runs and 12 hits while walking one in 2 2/3 innings.

Quick left in the third inning after giving up a three-run home run to Schilling. Myleigh Adkins relieved Quick and gave up one hit and struck out five in 2 1/3 innings.

Brooklyn Cole had two hits including a triple, Kenlie Zigmond had one hit and one RBI and Alex Hurley and Evie Loyd each had one hit for Winfield.

Curry, Noe and Propst each had one hit for Logan but all three were left in scoring position.

Winfield improved to 12-8 and will travel to Point Pleasant Monday while Logan dropped to 16-6 with the loss and will travel to county rival and second ranked Chapmanville Tuesday afternoon.
