Chapmanville golf wins home opening tri-match, 33 shots ahead of county rival Logan

CHAPMANVILLE Picking up right where they left off the Chapmanville High School golf team won its home opener Monday afternoon the Logan Country Club.
Coming off an impressive third-place finish in last Thursday's Mattox Potter Capital City Classic at the Edgewood Country Club, the Tigers shot a team total of 146 and was 33 shots better than second place and county rival Logan in Monday's nine hole tri-match.
Individually, Chapmanville's six golfers swept the top six individual positions, and all six were within seven shots of one another.
Justus Mann continued his strong performance, following his 73 from Thursday's Potter Classic, leading the Chapmanville hexagonal attack on the leaderboard with a 34 (-1) to take medalist honors. Cooper Evans was runner-up, one shot back of Mann, firing an even par 35. Gavin Stollings fired a 38 (+3) to take home third place, Isaac Walters and Cameron Wooten each fired a four-over 39 to share fourth and Zeke Tiller finished six after carding a six-over 41.
Logan shot a 179 to place second. Alton Ellis finished the nine-hole round with a 43 (+8), which was good enough eighth overall. Mikey Engle fired a 44 (+9) and was ninth with Crew Blankenship carded a 45 (+10) to round out the top 10 overall finishers.
Kevin Farmer shot a 47 (+12), Adex Martin a 49 (+14) and Chase Butcher fired a 51 (+16) to round out the scoring for the Wildcats.
Led by Maddox Hudnall's 42 (+7), the Sherman Tide finished third with a team total of 200. Hudnall's round was good enough for seventh and he was the only Tide golfer to crack the top 10.
Gunner Wall shot a 49 (+14), Cash Plantz a 54 (+19), Kaicen Cummings carded a 55 (+20) and Seth Toney rounded out the Tide scoring with a 56 (+21).
Chapmanville will hit the links Wednesday morning as they take part in the West Virginia Golf Association Invite at the Riverside Country Club. On Thursday, the Tigers will return to the course in a quad-match with Class AAAA George Washington, Class AAA Capital and last season's Class A runner-up Charleston Catholic at the Edgewood Country Club.
Logan and Sherman will join Buffalo and Nitro in a quad match at the Little Creek Golf Course Wednesday afternoon.
