Chapmanville Little League staves off elimination,eliminates Barbour County,13-6

BARBOURSVILLE Parris Parks' two-out single in the fourth inning broke a 5-
5 tie as the Chapmanville Little League defeated the Barbour County Little
League 13-6 Sunday evening in a Mountaineer Bracket elimination game of
the West Virginia Little League 10-12-year-old State Baseball Tournament at
Barboursville Park.
Cole Deskins allowed five unearned runs on three hits, striking out eight and
walking three in 4 1/3 innings. Grady Lambert had three hits including two
doubles with four RBIs and Grayson Bryant had three RBIs for Chapmanville.
After Parris’ single, Chapmanville scored three runs in the fifth inning and
added four in the sixth inning to remain alive in state tournament play.
Chapmanville will face Jefferson in an elimination game of the Mountaineer
Bracket at 8 p.m. Monday evening.
Chapmanville opened tournament play Saturday afternoon and was no hit,
falling to Shady Spring, 13-0, in four innings.
Chapmanville led 2-0 after one inning before Barbour County plated three
urns and led 3-2 after one. Barbour County extended its lead to 4-2 with a run
in the fourth.
Chapmanville scored three runs in the third to take a 5-4 lead but Barbour
County scored one run in the bottom of third and tied the game at 5.
Barbour County starter Ira Cunningham allowed seven runs on six hits in four
innings. He struck out four and walked three.
Ryan Bolyard, Landon Fultineer, Karson Golden Rylynn Plum and Nealen
Price each had one hit to account for Barbour County’s five hits. Cunningham
scored two runs.
In addition to his three hits and four RBIs, Lambert allowed one run in one
inning of relief. He struck out three and walked two before being pulled after
meeting the 20-pitch threshold, which would put him in line to start Monday’s
elimination game against Jefferson.
Zach Bryant allowed two hits, struck out two and walked one in 2/3 innings for
Chapmanville.
Deskins had one hit, drove in one run and scored three times while Jerrad and
Zach Bryant each had one hit and Cowen Perry and Oliver Robinson each
had one RBI and scored two runs.
