Chapmanville Middle teacher busted for obscene messages with LHS student

CHAPMANVILLE A Chapmanville Middle School teacher was arrested and charged for allegedly sending sexually explicit material to a high school student.


Christopher Tyler Brewster of Chapmanville is charged with preparation, distribution or exhibition of obscene matter to a minor. According to the Logan County Sheriff’s Department, Brewster was arrested Thursday, April 14.


Corporal Derrick Miller received a complaint about social media material that a Chapmanville Middle instructor was sending to a Logan High School student. The student was a juvenile at the time of the messages, according to Miller.


Conversations were of a sexual nature along with images allegedly sent between December 29 last year and February 26, 2022.


According to a criminal complaint filed in Logan County Magistrate Court, the conversations were allegedly obscene and with sexual intent toward the juvenile.


Brewster was a day-to-day substitute teacher at Chapmanville Middle School and resigned his position before his arrest.


If convicted, Brewster faces up to $25,000 in fines and five years imprisonment.
