Chapmanville Tigers Fall To Scott Skyhawks

In high school basketball action, the Chapmanville Tigers fell to 4-5 on the season while the Scott Skyhawks snapped a five-game losing streak, as the Tigers fell 54-53 on a last-second three-pointer by Reece Carden last night from Danny Godby Gymnasium.

Chapmanville led virtually the entire game and briefly held a 21-12 first-half lead before the Skyhawks closed the gap to 29-24 at the half.

In the second half, the Tigers once again built up a nine-point lead before Scott was able to use their pressure defense to climb back into the contest, and slice Chapmanville's lead to two at the end of the third quarter. The momentum continued to swing back and forth in the fourth quarter as both teams used quick spurts to gain the upper hand and settled at 53-51 in the final 17 seconds when the Skyhawks set up the final play for Carden to bury his game-winning three at the buzzer.

The Tigers were led by sophomore Brody Dalton who closed the game with 17 points, while Scott was led by Cavin White who hit 6 three-pointers and finished with 21 points in the contest.

Chapmanville gets back into action Thursday when they host the Wayne Pioneers. Tipoff is set for 7:30 p.m.
