MAN Morgan Cooper tossed her seventh career no-hitter on Senior Night as Class A No. 9 Man defeated Wyoming East 3-0 Thursday evening at Man High School.
Cooper struck out 15 and walked five as the Lady Hillbillies won their eighth consecutive game to improve to 12-3 on the year. Cooper also extended her scoreless innings streak to 49 and hasn’t allowed a run since allowing four runs in the seventh inning of a 5-0 loss to Chapmanville on April 10.
The game was scoreless through two innings, but the Lady Hillbillies broke through with a run in the bottom of the third. Melody Rozzell tripled to start the inning for Man and came around to score on senior Kalilla Collins single to give Man a 1-0 lead.
Kylie Blevins had a two-run single in the fourth inning scoring Peyton Lusk and senior Trista Marcum for a 3-0 lead.
Wyoming East starting pitcher Carli Raye allowed three runs on five hits in five innings. Raye struck out two and walked three in defeat.
Blevins had one hit and drove in two runs, Collins added a hit and an RBI while McKinlee Cline, Marcum and Rozzell each had one hit for the Lady Hillbillies.
