DHHR Reports 1,100 New Infections Of COVID19



The West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources reports 1,138 additional infections of COVID-19 Friday.


The new cases send the state’s active cases up to 6,727.


No additional deaths were reported. Since the onset of the outbreak, a total of 4,610 Mountain State residents have succumbed to COVID-19.


Governor Jim Justice continued his calls for people to get vaccinated during his conference on COVID response.


“The 4,600 death is a 33-year-old male from Marion County,”Justice said. “I said is it not possible that God is telling us something.”


A total 529 patients are hospitalized for the virus statewide. There are 183patients in intensive care units and 91 of those patients require ventilators.


Justice said 72% of the hospitalized are not vaccinated.
