Farmer scored on runs of 3, 3 and 1 in the first half, returned the second half 85-yards for a fourth score and scored on a 27-yard run, his fourth rushing touchdown, in the third quarter. Farmer finished with 122 yards on 19 carries.

Farmer started the scoring with a 3-yard run on Chapmanville’s opening drive and scored on a second 3-yard run to put Chapmanville up 14-0 after one quarter.

His third touchdown of the night, a 1-yard plunge put the Tigers up 20-0 early in the second quarter and Adam Mullins hauled in a 3-yard pass from Brody Dalton with 4:00 remaining before halftime for a 26-0 lead.

Dalton was 16 of 25 for 197 yards and two touchdowns, a week after he completed 16 of 26 passes for 165 yards and one touchdown in a loss to Winfield. Mullins caught seven passes for 109 yards and one touchdown.

Nitro, who lost its last two games after starting the season with two wins, was held 69 total yards. Quarterback Derek Lowe rushed for 52 yards on six carries but suffered a leg injury late in the first half. Mikey Toscano ran for 56 yards on 19 carries.

Chapmanville received the second half kickoff and wasted little time as Farmer took a reverse from Mullins and raced 85-yards for his fourth touchdown to put Chapmanville up 33-0 with 11:43 to play in the third quarter.

Farmer’s fifth touchdown came with 2:43 to play in the third as he scored from 27 yards out to give the Tigers a 40-0 lead after three quarters.

Jacob Blair caught an 18-yard touchdown from Dalton with 6:50 remaining in the fourth for Chapmanville’s final score of the contest.

The victory improved Chapmanville to 3-1 overall and 3-1 in the Cardinal Conference. The Tigers, who entered the week in a three-way tie for 15th in the West Virginia Secondary Schools Activities Commission playoff ratings, could jump into the top 10 when the new ratings are released Tuesday afternoon.

Nitro falls to 2-2 overall and 1-2 in the Cardinal Conference will host the Wayne Pioneers Friday night.

Chapmanville, who sits fourth in the Cardinal Conference standings, will travel to Scott Friday night to face the Skyhawks, who are 4-0 on the year and were ranked seventh in the latest Class AA ratings.
